MKD20 – The Publication
In 2020, the Meisterschule für Kommunikationsdesign MKD published its annual print edition, showcasing the creative work of the 2019/2020 class. Traditionally launched at the annual MKD event in Linz, the publication faced an unexpected change in plans when the event had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the circumstances, the publication was in fact released and became a vital platform for students to present their projects, featuring a wide array of innovative designs and communication concepts. Its successful release stood as a testament to the resilience of the MKD students during the many uncertainties and challenges of 2020.
Along with the publication, a website was launched, showcasing the publication in a digital manner as well as presenting the MKD students in a layout imitating a large video chat in a tongue-in-cheek reference to the sudden lockdowns and the way teamwork had to adapt. Also on this site was the easter egg jump-and-run online game MKD20 – The Game in which the player navigates a student through an abandoned Linz, where the MKD is located, headed for the MKD office, trying to evade the virus.
