Honolulu, Baby!

Created mostly in the summer of 2020, shortly after we celebrated Stan Laurel’s 130th birthday. Growing up, loving and adoring their filmography, I still consider Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy — the latter of which sang this song with a ukulele in hand in Sons of the Desert in 1933 — to be the funniest people I have ever seen on film and hoped to honor them and T. Marvin Hatley, who provided so much of their movies’ charme with his brilliant compostions, with this little piece of music and film.

The visual VHS style was deliberately chosen to create a contrast in combination with the music.
